Here are some basic tips for organising music festivals.
Sort Out The Technical Equipment
Seeing as this is a music festival, you'll want to spend some time on getting hold of good quality equipment together. These will include amps, speakers, mixer boards, cables and a whole bunch of other things to get the sound all the way across.
The quality of the sound is very important, so make this a priority. Musical groups will typically have a lot of their own equipment, but if you're the host then you'll need to back them up.
The best way to go about choosing equipment is to look at the venue. Festivals usually take place outdoors, which means bigger speakers. Without walls to navigate the sound, it's going to be tougher achieving good quality.
Plan Out Space
When thinking about events management, It's critical that you consider the maximum and minimum space. And establishing how big the festival is going to be would be a good start. First of all, how many stages do you want to use? Now compare it to the max amount of people that can be accommodated. Is there still enough space for the performers to get ready and for the vendors to set up shop? What about backstage and VIP (if applicable) areas?

Do You Need Permits?

Facilities And Security
The next question you have to ask yourself is how long the festival is going to last? Will it only be for one day? Or will it run a week? What does this mean for the manager, team and services I need to put in place?
If the music festival is going to run for more than a day, and people might be sleeping over, it's important to have the necessary facilities around. Even though everyone will be in a casual and careless mood, they'll want to keep things sanitary and clean.
The same goes for the security issue. People want to know there is somebody nearby, trained for a panic situation. Whether it's breaking up a fight, or just making sure everyone is safe, you don't want to slack with security. Remember, a festival draws a big crowd and things can easily lose control.
Establish The Entrance Requirements
Unless you have somebody funding the event, you'll have to recoup the money you spend on organising the music festival. If this is something you want to make a profit from, then pay particular attention to the entrance fees.
For the most part stamps and wristbands are provided at the entrance. This makes it easier for people who might need to leave the area at some point, to come back without hassle. Just make sure it's not something that can be faked easily.
Setting up the stage for every band takes time, which means people will be standing around and waiting. Once again, if this is a business venture, consider adding other performances and attractions to the mix. As mentioned earlier, rent out a few vendor spots and keep the people happy during the down times.
There's no disputing that you'll need to book several artists for the festival. Even if every show goes on for an hour, it means you'll need at least five or six of them to fill the day.
This is your opportunity to use local talent because they won't cost nearly as much to book, and they typically have small followings that will attend the festival. Get one or two big names to highlight the show, and simply give exposure to the great performers around you.
